Attending the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games

Queensland tourism had a major boost to its schedule this year as the very first Great Barrier Reef Masters Games was held between 8 to 11 August in Bundall, Cairns.

Cairns is one of the most popular vacation spots in Australia and offers a stunning setting for the Games and players. The city is home to extensive sporting infrastructure, with a range of award-winning venues, facilities and sporting support services. Visitors for the Games will be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of Cairns when they are in the city for the Games.

The Masters Games saw more than 2,000 contestants visit the city during the event period. The individual contestants and team members competed in more than 20 different sports over the four-day sporting event.

The minimum age requirement was 30 for most sporting categories and the event featured masters competitions, as well as entertainment during evening periods. The Masters Games has already been billed as a history-making event.
