The Gold Coast’s Best-Kept Culinary Secrets

The Gold Coast is known for its nightlife and beaches but the city is also home to some culinary hotspots that rival those in other Australian cities.

Elk Espresso is an excellent breakfast and brunch café located in Broadbeach. Proprietor Andrew Whiting has created a comprehensive breakfast menu and a space with ambiance and atmosphere. A popular dish is the potato hash with poached eggs and avocado.

BIN 12 is a tapas bar and restaurant located in Burleigh Heads with a large cocktail menu. Travel writer Brian Crisp recommended the share plate dining option, which includes choices such as southern fried chicken and chorizo corn dogs.

The Fish House is another popular spot in Burleigh Heads. This seafood restaurant has a dress code and is so popular that bookings are required. The food is fresh and well cooked.

Little Truffle in Mermaid Beach is one of the most respected dining places on the Gold Coast, according to Crisp. Owner Daniel Ridgeway runs a small kitchen that offers three-course menus starting at $65 each.
