Expanding the Mudgeeraba Show

The Gold Coast’s Mayor Tom Tate is looking to expand the Mudgeeraba Show. After attending the event in July, Tate was so impressed that he decided the show should become one of the Gold Coast’s two big annual events, along with the Gold Coast Show.

Ted Shepherd, president of the Mudgeeraba Show, said that they’re already in talks with the local council in regards to purchasing land beside the showgrounds and improving the show car park. These will help in expanding the show and attracting bigger crowds.

The Mudgeeraba Show is unique, being a country show that takes place in a big city. It’s all about the rides, agriculture, craft and machinery. Keeping things simple like the way traditional shows used to be is the reason why the show has become so successful.

Tate said that further development and expansion of the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds could make it an event precinct in the future.
